Oregon Drum draws on the ideas and philosophies of it's founder and president, William Reeves. Involved with drums since 1980, Mr. Reeves has played hundreds of drums in as many situations. From the 50 yard line of a bowl game to a stage 5 yards from the line at the punch bowl, he realized long ago that each venue requires something different from a drummer and their instrument. Oregon Drum is built on that single concept.
William's extensive experience in studio design, live sound reinforcement and a fascination with the science of acoustics brings a perspective not reflected in the methods of others. Today, thousands of drummers are using the acoustic and electronic percussion products he pioneered many years ago. While many of the acoustic concepts have sat on the back burner, Oregon Drum was created to change that.
You may notice a number of places where technology has been infused into Oregon Drum. As a professional computer programmer, William insisted there was a better way to design, price and build a custom product. You can see the fruition of this vision in a number of tools available to the visitors of Oregon Drum. The V2R System, Stave Calculator and Wood Properties Database are just a few examples of technology that goes into the design stage. Imagine what technology might have found it's way into the shop itself.
Modern design and engineering has been officially introduced to classic woodworking and drum building techniques.
